What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is a medical problem that swells the breast tissue of the boys or men. It mainly happens when there is an imbalance between two hormones in the body. The hormone that is produced in the boys’ body is known as testosterone which helps in the sexual growth during puberty. However, the boy also develops a small amount of estrogen which seers sexual growth in females. So when a male is at his puberty, obesity or when the older man produces less amount of testosterone then there will be an imbalance between the two. There are times when the boys produce a high amount of estrogen, results in the swelling of breast tissue.

What is Gynecomastia’s corrective procedure?

When a patient is having the problem of Gynecomastia, surgery will be done for removing the breast tissues. The surgery includes liposuction of the extra fat, removal of excess glandular breast tissue. But before that, your surgeon needs to examine the condition of your breast for confirming if you are having gynecomastia.

Before undergoing the surgery, the patient has to stop taking medicines which will lessen the risk of bleeding and improve general condition

How much time will it take to get completed recovery?

The patients who will undergo only the liposuction for correcting their enlarged breast will take a week to get back to normal. But for patients who will need surgical removal of excess breast tissue, it would take 4 to 6 weeks to heal.

What are the surgery complications of Gynecomastia?

Although Gynecomastia surgery is a safe surgical procedure and the patients can experience smooth recoveries. However, there are some complications that your body may experience such as wound dehiscence, Hematoma, bruising, numbness and loss of nipple.
